Japanese respect for ancesters/Decoration of obon

Decoration of obon. Obon is japanese traditional event of mid summer, 13-15th Aug.


Welcoming the people of dead ancestors. sometimes other people who don't have any relative in this living peoples's world.
the ancestors come from paradise by getting on cucumber horse and return there by eggplant horse.
people go to cemetery to greet and clean them.
usually people prepare the spacial space for them so during being in this world, ancestors have stayed there.
it is said, dead people eat smoke.
Water, color, smoke, have deep meanings for this custom.
